"Blasphemous Rumours" - Depeche Mode
new!! wave!! fall!!
Sarah Jagielski, Editorial
Tender Buttons – Broadcast
I like it because it has a mysterious sound that’s fitting for fall, while still being calming and good for listening to while on the bus or driving. The lyrics are hauntingly beautiful and her voice is so full and fits so well with the unique beats and distorted sounds.

"Goodbye Horses" - Q Lazzarus
Someone hit me in the parking lot last week (H10😛) and this was playing ambiently in the background as i gathered my insurance information and even that can’t ruin it. Perfect song for every situation.

"Pool Party" – Julia Jacklin
Julia Jacklin's lyricism. Just read the chorus: "You are the land and I am the dove / My heart is heavy when you're high / So for me why won't you try"

"Good Things" - Aloe Blacc
Recession Indicator.

Wishful Thinking - Duval Timothy
It tells a beautiful story without words

"My Way" – ProdWithFlavor
I’ve been listening to a lot of old school hip hop and I’ve also been listening to a lot of bouncy sparkly synthesizer kind of music so this is kind of a perfect mixture of both!

Violent Things - The Brobecks
the lead dallon weekes is a bassist so all the songs have really good bass. fun synths. fun melodies. a little edge. a little grunge. standouts: the nerve, bike ride, all of the drugs

"No Name #1" – Elliott Smith
It’s a melancholic, but comforting and beautiful song. The guitar playing is unique and the lyrics are vulnerable and personal as it touches on themes of isolation and mental illness. It’s usually on when my hands are deep in my pockets and I’m freezing my ass off walking anywhere after sunset.

"Epithet" - Amttrak
One last dance for SLO’s own. They were one of, if not, my favorite band. They will be missed and hopefully more music will come from them eventually. Until then, their music lives on. Long live Amttrak!!!

Tomb - Angelo De Augustine
The perfect quite sad fall album. It is my go to for a chilly evening walk. I particularly love All to the Wind and Tomb!

Portal– Balu Brigada
Vibes of driving down the coast windows down to San Francisco or frolicking on a hill. Love 4:25 and Sideways

Angle Iron - Thurniture
I discovered Thurniture’s only album Angle Iron over this past summer and have had consistently in my regular rotation since. The album as a whole has really tight instrumentation with pronounced drums and melancholic vocals and with many of the tracks varying in pace as well, it is captivating and compelling to listen to. “Casiopoly” is one of the more unique tracks and is pretty much just instrumental but is one of my favorites with “punch me in the face” being close behind. Would highly recommend to check it out.

"Anti-ugly" – Voyeur
Grunge rock with minor distortion; it’s un synchronized but delivered in the best way. Vocals are everything and it’s some of the best New York rock I’ve listened to in a while. I also just love voyeur in general teehee.

LOTTO - They Are Gutting A Body Of Water
LOTTO by TAGABOW released on October 17 and I was pleasantly surprised. TAGABOW had the ability to carry their traditional shoegaze sound while also experimenting with much more throughout their album. Herpim, the last track on the album stood out because of the ending snippet of the break drum beat which I haven't heard a lot from them.

Be Here Now - Oasis
Stand out song is definitely stand by me. i love the whole vibe of it - it was a very divisive album during its launch but it’s grown a cult following since. i adore it.

"Romance" – Nina
This song is super catchy and bouncy and upbeat. It makes me happy and it makes walking around fun. I think the lyrics are interesting as they are the opposite of the vibe of the song and the name of the song, making it have a deeper meaning.

love, april - Love April
Here's your chance to get in on the next big producer on the mellower side of tgirl hyperpop before she blows up. catchy, sweet, with the perfect balance of glitchy minimalism, yet still danceable, "i lov you" went straight to the playlist on first listen

Mama's Gun – Erykah Badu
This album is very lyrically poetic. Such a classic for the neo-soul genre. Didn’t Cha Know is such a classic that never gets old!

Millions Like Stars in my Hands The Daggers in My Heart Wage War - Single Gun Theory
Horribly long album title but such a unique trip-hop-esque sound with dreamy vocals! From a Million Miles, Take Me Back, and I Am What I See are my favs fo sho. Check this oooutt.

"He loves me yeah!" - Faye Webster
Super upbeat and makes me want to break out into a flashmob. But also super chill at the same time and I can do homework to it so super versatile.

"Sunflower River Blues" – John Fahey
This song has no words yet conveys so many emotions. It captures the transition from summer to crisper fall air that is especially prevalent in slo. There’s always a happy feeling in the background of its ominous tone just like how the sun shines every day but it gets colder and darker earlier. It starts and stops a lot which reminds me of times throughout the season that you reflect, reset, and change. It reminds me of change on both a long term scale and over the course of a day. It has an up and down motion in my mind that makes me look forward to the next part at all times.

"Inside the Golden Days of Missing You" - Silver Jews
this song is perfect for all my autumnal yearners. great country alt-rock sound, with absolutely soul crushing lyrics if you’re currently missing someone!

Some Like It Hot - Bar Italia
Vibe is post-punk, "The Cure" adjacent, energy. Moody vibes with both male and female point of views and vocals. Fundraiser, I Make My Own Dust, and Reputation are some stars within the Album. This album strays further from their moody aesthetic than they have before and I think that's what makes it exciting!

Getting Killed – Geese
Vibe is chaotic Junior Album. Each song is unique and takes the listener on a mental and emotional journey. It's allegedly supposed to be more "fun" and "chaotic" than their other two albums to mirror the nature of their performances. Getting Killed, Au Pays Du Cocaine, Half Real, and Islands of Men are some of my favorites from this gorgeous Album. :)
Pilar Purvis, Playlisting
The Most Dear and The Future - Ear
Vibe is whisper pop with a lot of synth sounds rising and falling with quiet isolated vocals. "ear" is an experimental group that is really flexing their sound more than ever before due to the fact that this is their first Album. Similar sounds to Locust and Four Set and Yves Tumor (in my opinion), super "cool" sound.

Compilation – The Clean
"Pop melody, shaggy pop, experimental-rock", according to their Spotify and I agree. I like it because it is a super easy listen, some songs without lyrics yet still keep the vibe together. I would say the sound is almost adolescent, it reminds me of my childhood and what it felt like to be a kid playing in the grass in the summer. Some stand out songs include, Slug Song, Anything Could Happen, and At the Bottom.
Pilar Purvis, Playlisting
"Neighbor" - Pinegrove
Its vibe is mostly indie folk rock. The admiration for nature resulting in the narrator's self-hatred is something I think many people feel. It can be explained as looking at something beautiful then realizing humans have decided to disturb and destroy it. In general, the song's sound is super unique and I think that's why I can't stop playing it.
